I do not think that we will be able to rescue all the species in the world that are at risk for extinction unless we think and feel differently about them. Perhaps we can consider the words of conservationist Henry Beston:
“We need another and wiser and perhaps more mystical concept of animals… They are not brethren, they are not underlings, they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendor and travail of the earth.”
